Days out

Weymouth Sealife Centre

This year we treated ourselves to Merlin annual passes and have slowly been making the most of all the attractions. We’ve been meaning to visit Weymouth Sealife Centre all summer but with broken arms and illness never got there. This weekend my brother in law and his family came to visit so we thought it would be a great day out.

They are now in winter opening hours so the Sealife Centre was open 11-4 and the Jurassic Skyline 11-3. We went to the Jurassic Skyline first so we could stay at the Sealife Centre as long as possible. Usually there would be a train running between the two attractions but this has been put to bed for the winter. It’s about a 30-40 minute walk which was a bit far for me so we drove and parked at each location.

Jurassic Skyline

We were the only people on the Jurassic Skyline and it was great. We could see for miles around over the harbour and Jurassic coastline. The viewing area travelsย to the top of the attraction quickly and then does two full rotations at the top.

There was so much to see and do here and the kids loved walking in and out of all the different pods housing different creatures. I like the fact that there is a lot of space rather than being so enclosed like the London Sealife Centre. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, Craig was there giving talks about the animals. We listened to talks about the Penguins, Turtles and then Sea Lions.

This was Darcey’s first visit to an Aquarium and she loved seeing all the fish, they were at the right height for her in the buggy. It’s also all flat so if you have a buggy or a wheelchair it is completely accessible.

The boys and their cousin are 8-12 in ages and they enjoyed running around and seeing all the attractions, there was more than enough to keep them occupied. They were just upset the log flume wasn’t open, but it is November now!

If you are visiting Weymouth definitely go and check out the Sealife Centre and Jurassic skyline. You can buy one ticket to cover both attractions and often if you book before you go there are discount available online.

We did the London one in Easter if you have a buggy then try and not go in the holidays, it was really difficult to get round as is in such as old building. Also it was manically busy x
