Favourite Weaning Essentials

Weaning your baby can be a bit of a minefield but something that we all have to go through. These are a few of my favourite weaning essentials that I’ve been using with Darcey.

There are so many to choose from. I personally love this one from OXO Tot that I got from John Lewis. I remember with the boys having a padded high chair and it was a nightmare to clean. This time round I wanted something that would be easy to clean and stylish. I love the fact it grows with the baby and can see her sitting in it at the dining room table for years to come. So well worth the investment.

Bowls and Spoonsimg_0365

I’ve bought a set of bowls from Boots that are great, they are the perfect size for her small portions and are really easy for me to hold with a shaped edge. These Nuby spoons are perfect as they have long handles to easily reach into babies mouth. They are also colour changing so you know if the food is too hot or not.

Drinks Cup

We’ve been through lots of cups to try and get Darcey to drink water. This Nuby flip and sip cup with a straw is the only one she likes, it’s a great design and easy to clean as well.

Lots of bibs. Weaning is really messy, I did start by buying fabric bibs and really wish I hadn’t as they got completely ruined. I found these Hippychick bibs  and they are great, they wash well and don’t stain at all, well worth the extra money. They also do a long sleeved version for when she’s ready to start feeding herself.

Patience – OK so this one you can’t buy. Take some deep breaths, why will she eat food one day and spit it at me the next?!? I have to give Darcey a toy or rattle to keep her hands busy whilst I feed her or she will grab the food and through it at me.

What other weaning essentials did you use with your children?

A bib with the food catcher bit is a must, I say!! Saved me a lot of time picking food up of the floor when my kids where little

In my experience the highchair needs to be easy to clean too……..that food gets in all sorts of nooks and crannies

That high chair is lovely, very stylish looking. We’re about to begin weaning our six month old so I’ll be stocking up on all the bibs!

They look huge at first but they are great and don’t get covered in orange stains! All baby food seems to be orange at first.

Fantastic list. I love the high chair. My little one will be weaning in the new year – so this was really helpful to read! ☺️

High chair is amazing and so easy to clean, no stitching or creases for the food to get stuck in.

That high chair is SO beautiful, my son doesn’t even need one and I’m tempted to get one just because it looks so chic

Love the look of this high chair. We made the mistake of buying a fabric one with our eldest and it was ruined after the first carrot puree dinner!! Wipe clean is the way forward!

This is really handy as I’m about to start weaning my second and am really not looking forward to it! I seem to have completely forgotten what I need. That high chair looks lovely, really practical and a nice design.
