Gro-Light Review

At the end of last year the wonderful team at the Gro Company asked me to review the Gro-Light for them. Over the years I’ve used the Grobag’s when the boys were tiny and even though they are now 7 & 8 they still use the Gro Clocks every night. I think highly of the Gro Company products and was very happy to try out the Gro Light.

What is the Gro-Light

The Gro-Light allows you to adapt a normal light fitting to use it as a night light, by turning the light on once you will get a glow from the blue Led’s on the Gro-Light fitting. If you turn the light off and on again then your normal lightbulb will come on lighting up the room. Such a simple but effective idea. There is also a dial on the side of the Gro Light which enables you to set the brightness of the LED’s.

How it works for us

I’ve had this in the box waiting for babies arrival and the chance to start using it. Darcey arrived on New Years Day so I have been using this in our bedroom for the last 6 weeks. I’ve attached it to my bedside light so that when I have to feed her in the night I can turn on the Gro-Light without even getting out of bed. It gives me enough light to see to change her nappy and feed her.

As we are encouraging her to know the difference between day and night, so that she sleeps at night, we want to make sure that when she wakes in the night we keep the room as dark and quiet as possible. The Gro-Light allows us to do this and without it I’d be struggling in the dark trying to make sure she was latched on properly.

As Darcey gets older and moves into her own room I can then transfer it into the main light in her bedroom to keep the routine going. I remember when I had Ben 7 years ago I was looking for a product like this and there just wasn’t one available.

The Gro-Light retails for around £17.95 and is available in either a screw or bayonet fitting. For more information visit the Gro store.

I’ve been so impressed with this product that I’ve ordered another one for the bathroom. This way when the boys get up in the night to use the toilet they can see what they are doing and won’t keep leaving the bright light on all night.

The Gro Company have provided me with this item to review, as always all opinions and views are my own.

Such a good product. We also have one but haven’t been able to use it because we have a dimmer switch in Lambs bedroom. I’m going to try it in my bedroom (normal switch) when baby number 2 arrives x

I really love the idea of this light. Olly has a night light on in his room every night but I’m looking for a safer option rather than using the dim feature on his touch light. #TriedTested

I love the idea of using this in the night. My eldest is just starting to get dry at night so it would be great for him using the bathroom if we had it on in the hall.
Thanks for sharing your review on #TriedTested this week x

What a great idea. My husband fitted dimmer switches to all our upstairs lights when our kids were little so we could easily turn on a dim light for nappy changes etc. This sounds like it gives a similar effect but without needing to faff with electrics! Brilliant.

This looks great! We still use the temperature egg in Mias room and shes nearly 3 but its more for the soft glow it gives off. I love the idea of this light as we keep the bathroom light on for Mia all night everynight and it would be nicer to have a softer light instead of a full light on 🙂

I’ve never heard of this before but it sounds perfect. my son likes to have a light on when he gets up so one on low is a great option x

That’s really clever! I’m sure my little boy would find this beneficial – he’s always complaining about the dark and I wonder if the night light he has at the moment is too bright…
