How the little bean has developed;
- I’m now about the size of a honeydew melon
- I’m 43.7 cm long and I weigh 4.23lbs now
- My bones are getting harder so they can be nice and strong when I’m born
- I can tell the difference between night and day, I’m trying to be nice this week and sleep at night for you mummy
- My lungs are almost fully developed so if I do arrive early I will only need a little bit of help
- I’ve had lots of hiccups this week, what have you been eating mummy!
Well this week is all about the number 3 for me. I’m 33 years old and 33 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. The reason I started this blog is because of my pregnancy and lack of information out there for women like me with back conditions, I’ve had 3 spinal surgeries in the last 3 years. Maybe 3 is my magic number? Oh and it’s also 3 weeks until Christmas from today, exciting times.
The baby is doing really well I’ve been checked out by numerous medical staff this week for various reasons and all are happy with baby’s movements. I’m still getting told I have a very nice size bump so am slightly concerned that she might be a larger than average baby.
I can definitely tell where she is at the moment, my ribs are taking a pounding from her not so gentle movements, to be honest I’m surprised they are still in one piece! As she insists on sticking her bottom or leg so far into my ribs it’s starting to get harder to eat as it seems like there is no room left for food. I’m trying to have little and often rather than a couple of big meals a day, as it doesn’t matter how hungry I am, I just can’t eat lots.
Day to Day life
The most exciting thing this week is that my kitchen is finished. For the first time in I think 6 weeks, we have a sink and a tap that water actually comes out of and a working hob. I’m just over the moon that I can eat proper food again as I was worried this baby is going to come out looking like a McDonalds chicken burger or other take away.
I had a fantastic surprise on Sunday when I went to my sister’s, my friends and family had thrown me a surprise baby shower, have a look and see what we got up to here.
The boys are really counting down to Christmas now with only a week left at school. We’ve got a nativity to go to for Ben and a Carol Service both the boys are singing in. It’s really getting me into the Christmas spirit. Of course on Wednesday we had a surprise visitor arrive on my window sill. Will opened the curtains and there was a little elf the boys have called Sprout, he has been up to a bit of mischief and the boys can’t wait to find out what’s he’s been doing every morning.
Can’t believe they are breaking up from school in a week though and I need to think of things to keep them busy that I can manage. Luckily I’ve been pinning lots of craft ideas my fellow lovely bloggers have posted. So I think it’s going to be very arty in this house over Christmas.
It’s not been a great week for me, last week I was talking about the funny turns and breathless feelings I’ve been having. On Saturday I was alone in the house with Ben, who’s 7, and I had a really funny turn. I managed to get onto the bed and he stayed with me checking that I could answer questions and was still ‘with it’. My heart was beating in n odd pattern and I was struggling to breathe, he called Daddy and within 10 minutes my Dad came round and called the paramedics. I had an EKG and my heart was skipping a few beats so I had to go to A&E to be checked over. Apparently this is quite normal in pregnancy but it was happening quite regularly. In a couple of weeks I have to go back for some more tests and to have an ECG to check all is OK. Has anyone else had something similar in their pregnancy?
The most important thing is that baby seems fine. My consultant on Wednesday was happy with the progress I’m making and said he’d keep a closer eye on me now as my due date approaches. My pelvis and back are getting more painful and although I’ve been on crutches for quite a while now, I think I’ve done really well to get this far without experiencing this level of pain. I hope this gives other women out there who have had spinal problems or back surgery some hope, at least I only have 4-7 weeks left and the pain has been completely manageable up to now.
