How the little bean has developed;

  • I’m now as big as a swede
  • I’m 36.6cm long, I’ve grown about 1cm a week over the last 2 weeks and I weigh 1.93lbs now
  • My brain has developed and I’m starting to think like a newborn now
  • I’m practising sucking and may be sucking my thumb now, this will help me to feed when I’m born
  • I’ve had hiccups this week and have been moving a lot it’s getting a bit cramped in here.
  • I can open and close my eyelids now, there’s not much to look at in here!

Mummy update

I’ve started to have a few sleep issues over the last week, I have no problem going to sleep it’s just waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep. This is probably because I’ve got lots on my mind and am finding it more difficult to get comfortable now. My pregnancy pillow is helping me lots and I’d be much worse without it.

I’m really pleased to be in the third trimester now and I know that if she does decide to make an early arrival from this point on she has an 80-95% chance of survival with the correct medical treatment. This is a huge relief and I feel like I can relax a little bit more.ย I’ve started to feel little tightenings in my tummy over the last week at random times of the day. Luckily these haven’t hurt at all and I know it just my body practising, when I was pregnant with no 2 I was already having painful braxton hicks at this stage at regular intervals and was in and out of hospital worried about early labour.

Now that I’m in the third trimester I’m going to start looking for the baby bits that I need, and there is a lot on my shopping list! We got rid of all the baby stuff we had from the boys when I had the back surgery as I didn’t think I’d be lucky enough to have another baby. Luckily my sister over at the home that made me had my nephew in April and is handing on lots of essential bits. Check out her website she is a home guru with amazing style and baby bits.

Day to Day life

Getting ready for Ben’s party at the weekend, he is very excited and we are counting down the days. His birthday isn’t until 9th November but he’s having a joint party with school friends so it’s quite nice to spreadย out his birthday and a nice start to half term.

I’ve also been thinking of activities that we can do next week to keep them occupied in half term. With me not being very mobile and building work going on at home this is proving to be a bit of a challenge. So far I’ve got the cinema to see Hotel Transylvania 2 and the local pottery painting cafe, think I might need a few more ideas.

All of the messy building work is done now and next week we should have a roof on the extension, this means we can removing the boarding at the back of the house and see the entire space for the first time. The electricians and plumbers are due in next week to do the first fix so it is really starting to progress.

My mum has also started decorating the baby’s room, I’ve decided to paint it quite a neutral colour then I’m planning on decorating it with some lovely wall stickers and fabrics to add colour to the room.

Health update

I’ve started to feel more human this week and think that being signed off work and resting has helped with the SPD. I’m using the crutches whenever I leave the house and limiting my activity so I’m only doing what I really have too. Although the pain is still there it’s nowhere near as bad as it has been and I feel that I’m in control for the first time in the last month which is really positive.

I’ve had a few twinges in my back this week but it’s been more of an ache than a serious pain. I know this is more due to the growing bump and the change in my posture, which was not great before the bump began to grow. I’ve been monitoring my weight gain each week and so far have put on 11.8lbs this pregnancy. I’m by no means dieting but trying to be sensible with what I’m eating as I don’t want excessive weight gain to put more stress on my back.

The baby is still really high and I can feel her up by my ribs most of the time, this is giving my some aches and pains and leaving me rather breathless. Although I know if she drops it will be more pressure on my pelvis so I think it’s probably better she stays where she is for the moment.

Its such a relief to get to the stage of pregnancy when you know your bump will be able to survive if he or she decides to visit early isnt it.
Did you enjoy Hotel Transylvania? I went to see it with the hubster last week. We were the only childless adults in the cinema but we didnt care, it was a fab film in our opinion. Thank you for linking up, Tracey xx #abitofeveryrhing

Those tightening feelings are crazy. I have been having them for the past week too. That is such a great thing your sister can get you all those items, that was our saviour when we had Lemar. I’m finding my baby is sitting on my pelvis, preventing me from sitting on the floor and making driving uncomfortable. I’d love to see some pics of the items you get for bub, even the bits and bobs for her room. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love reading your updates.

Your bump is looking gorgeous! I really sympathise with the SPD, I had it with both of mine – the second time it did feel quite crippling. But you have your back condition to contend with also.
You have some nice things planned for half term. Perhaps the boys would enjoy bowling?
All the best for the next week!
